Hyacinths

As part of my adventure in teaching myself how to paint in watercolor, I search local bookstores for demo lessons. I came across a used copy of Essential Techniques, Drawing and Painting by Amber. It has step by step projects in various media.

I adapted one of the projects for this little 3" x 5" painting. Fun!

Journal Pages

I love journals, and I've been collecting them for years. I used to write daily, but can only seem to manage a weekly entry these days. I've decided to create a series of watercolor pages where I can add quotes, affirmations, and inspirational words that are themed with the images. I don't know if I'll end up binding them into a book of their own, or just paste them into my regular journals. I made them 6" x 8" so they will fit into most standard journals. These are my first 2 pages.

Retro Halloween characters

I'm painting a set of Halloween characters that have the look of a retro "deck." I'm going to be adding a toad, and a jack-o-lantern, in addition to the 3 I've painted here.

Owl Butterfly

I squeezed in just enough time to finish an 8" x 10" butterfly today.

Watercolor days

I was so busy this week I didn't get to paint very often. This does not make me a happy camper! Don't get me wrong, I had a good week. I got to do lots of fun stuff. I just love watercolor so much, that if I don't get to paint for too long, I get kind of grumpy. I didn't even go with my plein art group this week. Still, I do have new work to show.

My growing pod of humpback whales

I just love painting whales! Can you tell?! I just can't get enough of them. Living next to the ocean fuels me. I know I'm absorbing the sea water right into my DNA. This is my first attempt at an aerial view.
